This authority does not accept digitally altered photos. An AI-generated photo may be refused — you decide whether to submit it.
For photos you upload, AI generation starts automatically when this rule cannot be met in the browser; photos taken with the camera here are only sent if you start it yourself. Note: For MyJLPT applications in Japan, use a JPEG at least 480 x 640 pixels and no larger than 5 MB. The official page does not publish a maximum pixel size or require an exact 3:4 ratio; the two numbers are minimum width and height. MyJLPT lets you upload a photo taken beforehand or capture one with a web camera during the application. Use a photo taken within the last six months, facing forward, with nothing visible in the background. If you wear glasses at the exam, wear them in the photo; a hijab is allowed. App-edited photos and photos with hats, sunglasses, masks, earphones, hair or frames covering the face or eyes, lens glare, red-eye, blur, darkness, distortion, or another person are unacceptable. These MyJLPT rules apply to domestic applications in Japan; overseas organizers set their own rules and may not require a photo.
